Dangote IPO guide for diaspora investors
Check residence, identity, currency and account requirements before applying.

Keep residence, currency and ownership separate
Choose your actual country of residence, not the country whose currency you prefer to use. An investor living in the UK, for example, should assess a GBP funding cost separately from an NGN share price and any USD reservation quote. Confirm the payment route available to the account; do not assume that a method available in another country also applies to you. Keep the exchange-rate quote, transfer receipt, account reference and eventual allotment record together. Those records also help you obtain an informed tax assessment later.
Residency matters
Eligibility can depend on where you live as well as your account type. Nigerian citizenship or a connection to Africa does not by itself establish eligibility for every distribution channel.
Prepare for cross-border costs
Confirm the payment currencies and methods actually offered to your account. Consider conversion spreads, fees, processing times and any restrictions before sending money.
Keep tax and ownership records
Retain application documents, the allotment notice and future statements. Confirm your own reporting obligations and how your shares are held.
Dangote IPO FAQs
Can diaspora investors access the Dangote IPO through MyStocks?
Use the country guide for your residence and confirm access and offer terms in the MyStocks listing. Identity checks, channel availability and allotment requirements apply.
Do I need a Nigerian bank account or BVN?
A BVN is not required for the MyStocks route. Follow the funding options actually shown in your account rather than opening or paying into an account mentioned in an unrelated broker’s instructions.
Are local tax reports automatic?
Do not assume so. Retain your statements and ask a qualified adviser about the rules applying to your tax residence and account structure.
