Follow the declared distribution

After a distribution is declared, read its record date, ex-dividend date where applicable, payment date and currency. Confirm how the holding channel records your entitlement and whether conversion or charges apply. Reconcile the net receipt with the statement, including any withholding shown. Do not treat a media reference to dollar dividends as a guarantee of a future amount, payment frequency or tax outcome. Keep the declaration and payment record for your own reporting.

Dividends are not guaranteed

A company’s ability to pay dividends depends on earnings, cash flow, financing needs and applicable approvals. Read the prospectus and subsequent company announcements for the policy.

Confirm currency and payment details

Do not assume a particular payment currency or schedule from older media coverage. Confirm any declared distribution, record date, payment method and conversion arrangements with your holding channel.

Tax depends on your circumstances

Withholding and local reporting obligations depend on the applicable rules, account structure and your tax residence. A country guide is not a personalised tax assessment.
